Rinpoche with the snail
60x60
Stones on canvas
Mucuró works with the noble elements of nature including stones, woods, and many others. In this stunning picture frame made of stone slabs, we can see our honorable Teacher Chogyal Namkai Norbu. The colors chosen by the artist are the same prime colors of the Gakyil as symbolic elements: yellow, blue, and red. The figure of our dear Rinpoche holds a snail in his right hand, one of the eight auspicius symbols. The eight symbols of good fortune represent the offerings made by the gods to Shakyamuni Buddha immediately after he attained enlightenment. The snail represents the beautiful, deep, melodious, interpenetrating and pervasive sound of the dharma, which awakens disciples from the deep slumber of ignorance and urges them to accomplish their own attainment for their own welfare and that of others.
